• It's my pleasure to announce that Matt Kaufman, principal of Milliman Financial Risk Management LLC, and friend of current board member Geoff Eliason, has joined the Soccer Chaplains United Board of Directors. Matt and Geoff got to know each other and work with each when they both worked for PowerShares — an exchange-traded fund company based in Chicago. Matt has been in the financial services field since graduating from  Cedarville University in 2004. His work has been to mainly build investment products and consult with asset managers and insurance companies. When I asked him what he is looking forward to most with joining the board, Matt shared, Over the last year, the Lord has been pressing on my heart to serve in a ministry. I feel

  • Yesterday, Darren Dragovich announced he would not seek to renew his term on the Soccer Chaplains United Board of Directors. For the past four years, Darren has brought a lot to the board. With his initial start in 2016, he helped to facilitate a church partnership conversation with Cherry Creek Presbyterian and a meeting with the church's missions committee. Darren's background with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and CGF (College Golf Fellowship) also lent invaluable experience to the ministry during a time of important transition and change. Darren shares his personal story of how a chaplain impacted him in college I have thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Board since 2015, and remain in complete support of Soccer Chaplains United and

  • This past weekend, the Board of Directors and myself, were in beautiful Fairplay, CO to pray and envision the future of Soccer Chaplains United. One of the helpful moments for me at the retreat was to understand that the ministry is in a time and period of "stabilizing." The past two years being marked by a significant change to our organization by virtue of our announced change of name to Soccer Chaplains United, the last two years have seen the organization working through that and beginning a process of growing and operating through transition. We had our usual business meeting on Friday night and then two sessions on Saturday with lunch and a round of 2 Mile High disc golf

  • This coming weekend, the Board of Directors and myself, will gather for our bi-annual retreat. Two years ago, our retreat (held in Castle Rock, CO) was the springboard for our organizational change as we rebranded from CrossTraining to Soccer Chaplains United. This year, we will gather for a few days in beautiful Fairplay, CO to envision some of what the next few years might look like for Soccer Chaplains United. While this retreat is less likely to feature such a tremendous moment for our organization, I would still like to ask for our supporters and partners to pray. Pray for us as we conduct a little bit of business and also lean into what God might be whispering — there

  • Last week, the Soccer Chaplains United Board of Directors unanimously voted to approve Matthew Adams to the board. Matthew is VP, Senior Tax Counsel at Cloud Peak Energy and a member of the Department of the Interior Royalty Policy Committee. Originally from Iowa, Matthew grew up playing soccer and he is passionate about leadership and strategic development. An assistant coach at Valor Christian High School, Matthew has had two sons in the program, which  is how Matthew and I met. As I became involved with the Valor Christian soccer program as a coach, I was tremendously impressed with the cultural impact that Rev. had on the coaches and players alike.  His modeling and support of Christian values as players deal with
