Timothy Project: Valor Guatemala 2016 Final Update
The Timothy Project: Valor Guatemala 2016 tour has finished and we share this final update and photos with CrossTraining supporters. Valor Team Leader Danny Brooks and the team of students and adult volunteers spent nearly two weeks working with the poor and impoverished in Zacapa. Brooks wrote a brief final update with some pictures to tell the story of the team’s time in Guatemala.
We are SO thankful for CrossTraining Ministries that allows us to make a huge impact in Guatemala…Soccer is such an important part of our ministry in Guatemala.
This year, our team continued ministry to a local soccer team of young men that live in the impoverished neighborhood called “The Canal.”
Getting their daily water from an infested nearby canal and living in mud and tarp houses, we were able to minister to this team by providing Rapids jerseys and balls for their team (last year we provided cleats for their players). It was amazing to have a chance to continue building relationships with the players, as we played with them and had opportunities to talk with them. In particular, Pastor Wilmer has worked closely with the (yellow-shirted) captain and we believe that the seeds of sharing the Gospel message will take root.
