Biography

Jordan Rivera is a volunteer co-chaplain serving New Mexico United in the United Soccer League — Championship, a second division professional soccer team based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He began serving in this role in early 2023.

Jordan was born in Quito, Ecuador. For the grace of God, his parents and grandparents were involved in pastoral ministry, so he heard the Gospel from an early age and believed.

His love for soccer began when he was little, but it grew when he moved to Argentina, at the age of 10. After 3 years Jordan and his family moved back to Ecuador and he considered playing soccer  professionally as opportunities to play locally appeared; but God lead him in another way.

As the whole family moved, one more time, out of the country, to now come to the US; God put in his heart the desire to prepare for pastoral ministry. So after graduating high-school he received a Bachelor’s in Theological Studies at Rio Grande Bible College in Edinburg, Tx.

After his graduation, in 2018, he moved to Albuquerque, NM where he has learned more about pastoral ministry and serving people and began working on a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jordan is leading a Spanish speaking church plant, hoping to establish more healthy churches in the city.

He married a wonderful woman in 2020 and they now have a beautiful girl and they are learning to be parents every day.

In his spare time, Jordan loves to write songs with his guitar and connect with people from different backgrounds. He is happy to be part of Soccer Chaplains United serving at New Mexico United.
