Community Development

Part of Soccer Chaplains United’s work includes providing meaningful service opportunities — for athletes to serve and organizations to give back. Chaplains help connect those we serve into community opportunities for service and giving. Chaplains also help distribute donated gear and equipment to non-profits, churches, and individuals for a wider, global impact.

Soccer Chaplains United gives back to local and global communities using soccer to make an impact. We resource donated and new soccer equipment for local and global mission projects. A portion of our donations go to purchase new equipment. We accept applications for different work and community projects and resource teams to use soccer for their own outreach efforts.

“The street boys of Kampala were incredibly grateful and I got to personally see how some simple uniforms could bring value and a sense of belonging to a group of young boys who desperately need it.”

I was excited to see how the Community Project works in its entirety. It is one thing to organize and donate gear here (in Colorado), but quite another to see the joy and excitement in the children’s faces when they receive it. I now know firsthand what a blessing the Community Project Program is.

Our soccer program has been very successful in providing hope for some of these young people, and the equipment Soccer Chaplains United has provided us…has helped us tremendously in achieving our goals. Thank you very much for your help!

FAQ

  • What’s the criteria to request gear? Projects which cover all or a majority of the following criteria are considered, especially when there are multiple requests and limited resources. If your project does not meet a certain criteria, you are still encouraged to complete a request and we will do our best to help.
    • Partners – We prioritize our financial partners — churches, other non-profits, and donors.
    • Christian-oriented – Soccer Chaplains United is a Christian organization. Project proposals that serve a diversity of people and faiths, but are from a reputable Christian mission organization or individual are important for maintaining the integrity of our mission and vision.
    • Soccer – Soccer-oriented projects are part of our vision and focus for equipment proposals.
    • Cross-cultural and socio-economic – We value projects meeting a wide range of needs. Proposals that reach into diverse cultural, social, and economic peoples and communities are given higher consideration than others.
    • Community size – We like to see proposals that stretch the dollar and resources as far as possible. In other words, to reach as many people as possible.
    • Media – We look for projects that have visuals (video and photos) that can be shared with our supporters and followers. While respect and care must be taken in regards to children, we believe that videos and photos help “tell the story” — your story and ours.
