Have you ever thought to put Jesus’ disciples into a starting 11? What formation would you use? Would you put Simon Peter as a 6 or as a 9? Well, that’s just a little bit of the fun that we have with our special guest, Coach Brian Shultz on the From the Touchline podcast. Brian is the Head Coach for Valor Christian High School’s Boys and Girls Soccer teams.
In today’s episode, we hear a bit about Brian and Rev Brad’s relationship and how Brian came to know the Lord. We also hear how Brian works to incorporate faith and football as a long-time club and high school soccer coach.
From the Touchline is a short-feature (usually 10-15 min) podcast with Rev Brad Kenney, Founder and Executive Director of Soccer Chaplains United and Volunteer Chaplain to the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. Rev Brad and occasional guests touch on various issues around the topics of faith, family, and football (soccer).

Brad, What a great podcast! Thank you so much for sending it our way!
Danny and I Thoroughly enjoyed your interview with our son, Coach Brian. I heard a lot of stories I wasn’t familiar with. Some made me laugh as I remembered those childhood days with Brian. When I think of my son and his love for soccer,, the joy it was to watch him on and off the field, I knew God would use him someday in a mighty way to influence, to teach, to inspire excellence , integrity and build faith in others no matter the profession he chose. His enthusiasm, his spirit drew people in for teachable moments like I believe Jesus did.
No matter how his team might be losing, he never ever gave up. To the very end he set an example of courage, going the extra mile! Playing with heart! I know of course as a mom, I am just a tad bit proud of him.
I loved your little soccer game near the end of the podcast. You really did a great job interviewing him. I am so thankful that you all have shared a friendship through the years. Brian has spoken of you often and that you have impacted his life and his faith.
Again, thank you for sharing this with us. It just meant the world to us. God bless you and your ministry as a chaplain Brad and for your faithfulness in serving the Lord ….influencing young men and women for Christ .
Sincerely, Jean Shultz
