Not Just a Stone’s Throw: Stonehill Heads For Guatemala
A team from Stonehill Church, is headed out next week to serve in Guatemala. Rich Lapp, who also led the Mexico trip this past summer, has a team headed south for a week’s worth of work, service, and learning from a different people and different culture.
The mission of Stonehill Church is to “Love ALL People and Help them to Find and Follow Jesus”. We endeavor to do that locally in Meridian, Idaho as well as around the world. One of our global partners is Manna Worldwide. We support the Central American director as well as a number of feeding centers and a trade center in Guatemala.
Rich Lapp, on the mission focus for the 2026 Stonehill Guatemala team
On September 4, 31 people who call Stonehill their home church will be headed to Guatemala to serve, learn and share the love of Jesus. Their home base will be Guatemala City where they will initially spend time with about 25 orphans, sharing meals with them, painting their “home” and enjoying a morning at the local zoo and an afternoon soccer outing.
Next, the team will travel to the Mayan village of El Arado where we will work with local children, washing feet and doing head lice washings. We will also paint their “trade center” where young men in the village are trained in auto body repair among other things. We will visit a second orphanage on a small coffee plantation and share a meal and time with the orphans.

Rama Blanca, on the coast of Guatemala, is the team’s final destination. There the team will serve local young people and their families by delivering food and providing a couple days of Vacation Bible School.
More than some destination mission trip, the Stonehill Church team is looking to individually grow in their relationship with the Lord, as well as strengthen relationships and bonds within the Stonehill community. The team will also hope to build new perspectives about the world and God’s kingdom by serving across cultures to the least of these.
We are excited to partner with Manna Worldwide and Soccer Chaplains United in this adventure.
