Cherry Creek Presbyterian Takes Bi-Annual Mission To Uganda

Soccer Chaplains United’s longest-running church partner, Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, is preparing for their bi-annual mission trip to Kampala, Uganda. Every other year, a team of high school juniors, seniors and adult leaders travels to Uganda to participate in Youth for Christ’s ministry in the urban center of Kampala. The church has been working with Youth for Christ Uganda since 2007.

The focus is on building relationships and continuing to serve the community over time. Trip leaders have created a selective process to make sure people are going for the right reasons. The trip isn’t an exotic vacation or just about going to give people things. It’s really about joining in on the amazing things God is already doing in Uganda through the ministry.

This year, team member Isabelle Baumann made the request on behalf of the Uganda team. She shared some of her motivations for going:

I remember my brother coming home after he went on the mission trip to Uganda and him telling me all the wonderful stories and moments he had there. Since hearing those stories, I’ve always wanted to go experience those moments for myself. I am especially excited to teach the children of Uganda about Jesus Christ and the impact He can have in their lives, as well as my own. Singing songs, performing little skits, loving on the teenage girls of Mirembe House, and playing soccer will be such a blessing.
