Timothy Project: Anastasis Academy and ACC 2016

Mar 10, 2016

CrossTraining Timothy ProjectIn 2011, a small school was started as a part of a grand vision – what about seeing each student as a unique individual and tailoring an education to their needs? So began Anastasis Academy. As part of the leadership and vision of Kelly Tenkley, Anastasis has for the better part of the last 5 years been seeking to live out its mission to:

…strive to provide an educational model that honors and supports children as the unique and creative individuals that God created them to be.  We work to shape the development of the whole-child by engaging the mind, body and spirit while inspiring each to personal excellence.

Timothy Project: Anastasis Academy and ACCFor Tenkley, her staff, and the students of Anastasis this goes beyond the classroom. Recently, Deb Weissman, the 4th/5th grade educator at Anastasis reached to CrossTraining’s Timothy Project to help assist Anastasis with one of their outreaches for this year.

Anastasis Academy students are partnering with ACC Denver, an organization that helps refugees rebuild safe and sustainable lives in Denver. We will focus a portion of our service learning towards the ACC Denver Youth Program that works with refugee children after school as well as in the summer months.

African Community Center (ACC-Denver) looks to help refugees move past their displacement and start to rebuild lives – and for the youth this represents a huge area of need and of opportunity.

Part of Weissman and Anastasis’ goals are to come alongside ACC and provide some soccer balls that the organization can keep for the various youth development programs that ACC utilizes for the sake of helping refugee children stabilize in the new environment

One of ACC Denver’s Youth Program needs is a supply of soccer balls. They receive lessons and training from volunteers, but don’t own any of their own equipment for the children to practice and play when volunteers leave their facility. We were hoping to raise additional funds for ACC Denver and donate some equipment before the end of our school year in May.

Anastasis Academy and ACC share similar goals – love children and see them as the unique individuals that God created them to be. Please consider making a financial donation to help CrossTraining secure equipment for Anastasis Academy and ACC.

Timothy Project: Anastasis Academy and ACC Summary
