  • Chaplaincy Development Since 2002, Soccer Chaplains United has offered chaplaincy services in Major League Soccer. Since then we've expanded to offer an integrated, team-approach which seeks to develop chaplaincy at all levels of the game. Our primary aim is to offer appropriate spiritual and pastoral care and support to individuals within the soccer community — whether someone is an athlete, coach, official, team executive or staff member, alumni, family member or simply a fan. Soccer Chaplains United chaplaincy seeks to offer holistic care.  There are two, typical ways that a chaplaincy placement happens — either an opportunity with a particular team or organization presents itself or an individual with an interest in becoming a chaplain. We outline both processes below.

  • In the fast-pass culture that we live in sometimes missing the small aspects of life that help make us healthier individuals fade to the backdrop. As I was driving home with my family on Thanksgiving evening we passed an outlet mall. The line of cars extended from the mall and continued down the highway for a couple of miles. As we continued home I realized that holiday lights were already up and turned on around stores and people’s houses. Suddenly Thanksgiving was over without the day being done. Yes, every holiday is commercialized and that is an issue in and of itself that makes me cringe. This year it is bothering me even more. As Americans we are gifted a

  • Over the last couple of weeks, I noticed a struggle within myself:  thriving in the day to day choices whose effects are not seen in the moment, but have long term ramifications.  For example, after a recent loss, a colleague asked me how I was doing. I responded with, “I haven’t carved out the time to process yet.” The conversation continued with him reminding me processing can happen in smaller amounts of time within a day that is within a week which could be within a month, year, etc. At times there is the ability to lose the middle ground that happens in-between the start and finish of projects, pain, work, education, growing skillsets. I was making a daily choice
